New 2012 Shimano Symetre FL

Finally some great news from Shimano USA. I was always wondering when Shimano was going to replace the old Symetre on the US reel line up. Don't get me wrong, the Symetre was a medium quality and high capable reel but it remained unchanged for a very long time and was falling behind the competition with other brands.
Now Shimano has revamped the model and it is going to hit the US market in September. Named Symetre FL it is will be "esthetically" is similar to the Exsence series sold in Japan. Gone is the green color, now it has a Black trim and ultra compact body which I admit are very pleasing to the eye.
As for the techonology behind it? X-ship , S-ARB bearings, Super Stopper II, Propulsion Line Management.
The sizes will be the classic ones : 1000 / 2500 / 3000 and 4000
Price? Between 90-110USD.

On paper is a valid medium budget reel. I just wishes it came with a metal body instead of the classic and cheaper graphite frame.

You can get more info here at Shimano USA official page.

Tackle House Bezel: where to buy

After my post on the Tackle House Bezel (see here) I received some messages about where to get the lure.
I was lucky enough to buy it directly during my trip in Japan, and I didn't find it online.
Good news is that JDM Tackle has just added the Bezel to the online store. If you are looking for it have a look here.

Duel is playing BIG

One of my favorite brands has just introduced some lures that target heavyweight fishes.
The historic brand is playing big this season with the introduction of several interesting lures.
The new series is called "Big Blue" and the lures target fishes like Amberjack, Tuna, Dorado and other pelagics. The main products are the new pencils and poppers .
Details are here, at the official website (in Japanese for now) .
Also make sure to check the videos below.
I think we will read more about these new lures on facebook and other english written blogs.

Are you looking for a Daiwa Reel?

I just saw a very interesting post on Cloud Nine Tackle's facebook page.
It is definitely a news that I need to share with my fellow blog followers and fishing friends.

My favorite online tackle store is announcing that from now on it can get any Daiwa reel model you are looking for. I think this is great news because most of the time we are not able to get our hands on some of the coolest JDM model reels. Basically if you shoot an email to C9 tackle they can give you a quote on a reel that you are looking for. The store owner Jed is a great guy and will certainly help you. Also you can ask anything about JDM tackle products. Sometimes he is able to find items you are looking for or give advice on what lure to use for specific fishes or conditions. He is the perfect mix between a brick and mortar friendly local tackle store and an online e-store. This is certainly a valuable resource for anglers around the world.

Here you can see the ones that are available at the store.  By the way, they have the new 2012 Daiwa Exist in stock too. I received many traffic on my previous post about this reel and this means that it is a product that has some following in the fishing market. Expensive but great reel!

2012 Exist available. Expensive but great reel nonetheless

Rod Project on its way

Today I had the chance to add an aluminum winding check and do some wrapping to my rod. I got the new guides as well and I am planning to add them tomorrow. I like regular and simple color schemes so in this case I have opted for a black wrap with an added red metal trim. So far looks good.

Yamaga Blanks Early 78MLRF

This a rod I bought quite a bit ago. I didn't have the chance to wet the line with this amazing rod. Actually the quality and beauty of the blank is holding me from using it on some rocky shores. At the end it is a rod I got for fishing so it will definitely touch the salty water soon. Anyway, I plan to write my first impressions in a short time.
What rod is this? It a Japan made Yamaga Blanks Early 78MLRF seabass rod. See here for details.
By the way I got the rod here in case you want one for yourself.

Playing with PS Lightroom

I am becoming more and more addicted to photography and specifically shooting lures.
I also downloaded Photoshop Lightroom 4.0 and I started using it for retouching my shots. As a current user of PS Elements I can definitely say that Lightroom does indeed work marvels on the photos I shoot. The level of adjustments is great and I am still on the learning curve. Anyways, I spent this afternoon taking some photos. Here is the first result:

DUO Tetraworks Yurameki (click here for details) A fantastic sinking lipless minnow for ultralight applications.
